Obtrusive light reduced by an average of 96% at EemsEnergyTerminal

How do you maintain safe and functional lighting while drastically reducing light nuisance and light pollution?

At EemsEnergyTerminal, a subsidiary of Vopak and Gasunie, Unique Lights was faced with exactly this challenge.

Together with our partner De Kruijter Openbare Verlichting, lighting measurements were carried out to assess the existing situation.
Unique Lights then used 3D simulations, lighting calculations and engineering to identify where the highest levels of light emission occurred and how these could be reduced as effectively as possible.

An additional challenge was that all light fixtures had to be suitable for ATEX Zone 1 and resistant to the highly corrosive marine environment caused by saltwater exposure.

Based on our engineering, the measures were subsequently implemented using modern ATEX LED lighting from Raytec.

The result: an average reduction of 96% in light nuisance.

A strong example of how smart engineering, targeted optics and specialist knowledge of ATEX and offshore environments come together in one solution.
